Rise of the shadows

"Again." Darek's father said as he threw Darek to the floor. As they did everyday in the morning it was there daily hand to hand combat, and like always, Dareks father was winning. " How do you expect to defend someone if you cant even defeat me boy? I am all brain and no bronze and yet you can't seem to stop anything I throw at you." Darek's father said as they began sparing again, punches flying and landing on both combatants. " I will beat them all, none shall get to my charge." The 13 year old Darek said as he began to use his powers an make all the area around the field pitch black. " You will have to do better then make the players blind, some of them may still hear you." And with that silence followed before a loud crack of Darek's head hitting the ground.

" What happened." Darek asked as he felt ice cold water splash all over him." " Who do you work for?" A man with a deep scar on his face asked as he placed a knife to Darek's throat. " I don't know what you are talking about, I am merely a kid." Darek said as he was taught to do, tell only part of the truth so that they can not tell you are lying. " Try again." The man said as he took a object from his belt and sent an electrical wave through Darek. " Who do you work for boy, I saw you with that other man fighting and training."

Darek felt the electrical jolt run through him and bit his tongue. Dam that hurt, Why had his father left him all alone to this man." Really sure I do not know I came out of my house and was attacked by that man." Darek said as he reviewed the events of the day.

" Lies, I have been watching the two of you for the past few months. I know what you to are, so I will ask again, who are you working for." Darek knew he was in trouble then for this proved that the man was not another of his fathers test, and that's when he took in his surroundings. He was in a white sterile room, no windows or mirrors were in the room, only a steel door to get in or out from. " I know who you are skum, and you wont get anything out of me you human." Darek said as he made the light in the room go to a blinding light and when the guard shocked him he made the lights in the building begin to go on and off. Trying to suck out all the power he could from them.

" I can't see, the little sucker blinded me." The man said as he pulled out his gun and started firing randomly around the room hoping to hit Darek. But Darek had already made his chair fall to the floor and was busy untying the knots on his hands holding them behind his back. Once out of his binding he quickly went over to the guard and kicked him in the shin make the guard double over, right into Darek's leg that was already going at full force up to meet his capture face.

The man went down as his nose broke and blood began to pool out of it. "Now to get out of here." Darek said as he went to the door and grabbed the handle. " Owwww." Darek screamed as a jolt ran through his body. That had really hurt. Darek thought as he raised his singed hand to his face so that he could see it. Only one way in or out, time to suck up the pain. Darek said as he grabbed the handle. Slowly and painfully Darek pulled the door open and began making the lights in the hall go complete go out, not even the flash lights would turn on and so Darek snuck by guard after guard until he came to the exit door. " Great the sun is out they will see me. I need to find a place to hide." Darek said as he began running around the complex looking for a supply closest.

And just as Darek turned the corner he saw her, his charge. " Shit." Darek said as he turned back the way he had come. There was no way he could hide in here with her here working for them, that much he knew. " Looks like its time to take to the sky." And with that Darek went to the elevator and waited for the doors to open. When they did he got inside and climbed up the hatch. Slowly putting one hand over the other he made his way to the top of the shaft and started hitting the escape door at the very top of the building, hoping that it was not locked on the other side as he rammed his body into it over and over again.

After thirty minutes he finally saw some progress, he could see the light outside, but then he heard a faint buzzing and looked down. The elevator was rising up. " I'm gonna get squished if I stay here much longer." Darek thought to himself as he began throwing himself into the door with more determination. When he saw that he would not make it in time he decided to break a piece of metal off the side of the wall and begin cutting through the thick tension wire that supported the elevator.

" Come on almost there." Darek said to himself as he cut through the wire. And once he finished he heard the sounds of a falling cart, but when he looked down the elevator cart was right underneath him and it was full of soldiers. Just then it started to plummet to the floor. " AHHHHHH." One of the soldiers screamed inside the cart while all the others began to fire up at the ceiling.

Darek flew every which way as the bullets flew at him from below. Luckly most of them were aimed straight at the door he was trying to get out of, but a few shots did connect and give him passing graves, and they hurt. Quickly he opened the door in the ceiling the rest of the way and stepped onto the roof and scanned it. He could see a door that led to the floor below and a few generators on top. Alot of builidings surrounded this one so he knew he was still in the city. " Need to go get supplies. Then to the safe house." Darek said in his mind as he began running to the edge of the roof and threw himself off of it.

Momments after Darek had flung himself off of the roof the Agents were swarming it looking for him, but they could find no sign of him. " Go tell Cross the prisoner has escaped." Elizabeth said as she looked out into the open sky. The boy was more then he had appeared to be, and could take alot of punisment if he could get through that steel door. " Send a team to his parents shop as well as there living quaters." Elizabeth said looking at another of the agents next to her. " But mam we have his parents in custudy and are questioning them now. Why do we need to send out more agents, we are already open as it is. " The Agent she had been talking to responded. " Simple, he," she indicated to the air meaning the boy. " Will need supplies and to see if his parents were captured. Hit the house and shop at the same time now go." And with that Elizabeth walked away. " sending humans to do an elements job. I knew they should have let me question him. Dam fools." And with that she walked back into the building and dissapeared.

As Darek felt the wind under his wings lifting him up into the sky above the city he finally let a calm come over him. Though it did not last long as he looked behind him to see people leaving the top of the building he was just in. " I have to move quickly." Darek thought as he judged the distance to his parents shop to the building he was just at. " Ten minutes max, and that's if they send the people that were on the roof." Darek thought as he pulled his wings in and began to dive bomb, cutting through the sky towards his family shop.

As Elizabeth had told them to do the agents had began assembling for the raid and once ready left to assault both buildings. " So little child lets see you escape this." Elizabeth said as she looked at the child she had kidnapped, at only the age of three the fellow earth elemental would do nicely. After all she looked the boys age. " I may have a special job for you my dear child. " Elizabeth said looking at the little girl on the side of her.

Darek arrived at the house and quickly went straight into the backroom. After all nothing that was high quality was kept up front in the case that an agent would one day walk inside an shut them down for seeing the arsenal of illegal weapons they had. Once in back Darek quickly grabbed two duffel bags and threw them on the tables on the side of him. Ammo in one guns and hand to hand combat weapons in the other." Darek said to himself as he began throwing handgun ammo into one of the duffel bags. Once it was filled to the top he zipped it up and went and got his two custom handguns, Ebony and Ivory, he called them. One was black and gold, the other white and gold. After he had them carefully secured he threw tear gas and smoke bombs into the bag and then his fathers custom made tofa blades and steel batons.

Just then he heard the door slam into the store and hit the red button on the wall. Under the button were the words auto torrents.

As the guards reached the store they surrounded it on all sides.
" Red team going in." Said the team led by a fire elemental at the front door. Quickly they broke down the door which made a loud bang as it fell down onto the floor. " Sir whats that." One of his under servants asked as they looked at the counter that had a long pipe rising out of it. " Do..." The fire elemental began to say before he dived to the floor, bullets spraying the front room taking out the two guards behind him.

As the men on the roof heard the red team go in they decided to go in as well and take the stairs down to trap the boy in between the two patrols. Smoke bombs." One soldier said as he saw the smoke rising from the bottom of the stairs, but in truth Darek had lit the place on fire, burning all the contacts his family had including the case files, all except one paper which he quickly grabbed, it was a note Zelena's parents had wanted her to have when she was old enough and learned the truth, it also proved he was who he was and to trust him and his judgment.

"Goodbye mom and dad." Darek said as he armed all the bombs his parents had lined in the building and snuck out the front door. Once a few blocks away he hit the button in his hand and the block behind him became a huge inferno of flames as the bombs exploded setting of all the other bombs in the store and sending all the bullets inside the store shooting in every which direction. " Time to go and dissapear. But I promise I shall never be far from her my parents, you shall be avenged." Darek said as he clenched his fist, refusing to let any tears come. He was a killing machine, and it was time for the true test, survival. And with that Darek took of heading into the direction of the suicide mountains.

Elizabeth was listening into the com sets when she heard a loud bang and then white noise. " Unbelievable. This one shall take much planning. Well looks like I shall go break the good news to the parents, and the bad news to Cross." Elizabeth said as the little girl walked on the side of her. " It looks like your son is a lot smarter then the two of you are, he has, escaped us and taken out two of our patrols. To bad for you that you shall never see him grow up, or see his down fall when this little girl kills him." Elizabeth smiled as she put her hand on the little girls shoulder. Please go get Zelena and tell her to exterminate these two enemy's of state." Elizabeth said as she sent the little child on her way. " You may stop us, you may have even stopped Zelenas parents, but know this you are a traitor to your race and the agency shall fall to our son. He shall destroy you and there shall be nothing you shall be able to do to stop him. Mark my words you shall see the fall of your petty race at the hands of my son." Dareks father said, not as intimidation, but as a dead serious warning knowing he was not lieing.

Elizabeth laughed at Darek's fathers words before adding, " But you are right. My petty race shall die, and I shall be the only one left for the service I gave to the humans." And with that she walked out of he room, the steel door closing shut behind her.

As Elizabeth had told the young child she quickly went in search of Zelena. A half hour later the little girl found her and tugged on the bottom of her pants. " Miss. Elizabeth has chosen you to eliminate the enemy's." The child said before running down the hall to the holding cell, Zelena and her icy blue eyes following not far behind...( Zel this is what I came up with, if you have any better ideas or would like me to add more just let me know.)

Darek kept in the main stream of the crowd as he made his way to the suicide mountains, his parents had told him many times that if they were to ever be split up to go there and wait for them. That if in three days they had not come to find him, he was alone in this world and must fulfill his destiny to make them proud. But in truth Darek did not want to do that, all he wanted to do was curl up in a ball and cry like the child of his age would normally do. " I am not a normal child." Darek told himself as the bus came to a stop in front of the border, where he stepped of the bus. " Time for the real world , and my new life." Darek said as he ran into the woods surrounding the lake heading to his cave home in the mountains.

As Darek ran he felt other peoples eyes upon him, after all it was not common to see a young teen running off into the woods with a duffel bag and not suspect anything, and so the few civilians who were in the woods and near the lake gave Darek a wide breath.

After what seemed like hours to Darek he came to the base of the suicide cliff. " And this is where the tricks begin." Darek sighed as he made the element within him serge to life and melt him into the darkness behind him until there seemed to be no boy standing there at all. For seven minutes Darek stood perfectly still, not moving a muscle, just waiting to see if any of the agents had followed him this far. After the seven minutes were up and still there was no sign of movement Darek let his wings unfurl to there full extent and he took to the sky.

Mighty black wings beat down pushing Dareks small body up and into the air just on the side of the cliff and still in its protective shadows. Higher and higher he climbed up into the air until he came to a small slit. To all those flying by in a vehicle it would appear to small for a human body to fit into, but up close it was just big enough and that is where Darek went into the hole in the mountain.

Once inside Darek dropped a curtain that was made to look like the material around it so that the hole that was there was no longer there but gone. Satisfied Darek pulled his wings back in and walked deeper into the darkness of his new home. Most human and elementals alike would not be able to see in this utter blackness that was devoid of light, but to Dareks unusual eyes it was as clear as the sun was bright.

" Time to set up base and open up." The small boy said with a sad smile as he went to a rock set low to the ground and lifted it up, underneath was a eye scanner and he placed his eye to it." The machine quickly scanned his eye and positively identifying the owner the rock wall in front of him lifted up to reveal a small house like layout.
